Norman Rockwell and American Memories

Norman Rockwell and American Memories.

As I commented on Wax Wayne’s blog, I think Rockwell would have been just as wonderful depicting the diversity of American today as he did with the very white America he lived in.  I always forget how masterful he was until I start staring at his work and see the inspiration and contrasts he provided for us to feast upon.

So please take a moment and enjoy these pictures.  And think about what a beautiful presidential portrait of Barack Obama would have been created by his masterful hand and mind.

I love that my husband, daughter and I have been enjoying Thanksgiving on Prudence Island with Jeremy’s family these past few years. It’s a wonderful, festive day full of delicious food, family, and laughter, not to mention a walk around the nearly deserted island in the chilly autumn afternoon.

I miss those times with my family, and as it stands we may never have a Thanksgiving together like that again. But I am thankful for those times. And for today.
